This course will not only provide you with the knowledge of the nature of the horse and its behavior, but will also lead you to a deep appreciation of the relationship between these two species. We will revisit their relationship throughout history and understand how it can benefit the therapeutic process.
Therapy and learning techniques with horses have been carried out in Europe and in the United States for over ten years. Our course approach invites the participants to fully engage themselves in the horse’s world in order to acquire new insights about themselves and how they relate with others.
The predator/prey perception that institutes the man/horse relationship offers us an excellent opportunity to learn a new way of co-existing with each other and within our society.
The therapeutic work with horses has applications in many areas: people with special needs, people who have suffered mistreatment or abuse, adolescents, personal development and self-awareness, self-esteem problems.
It has also been very successfully used as coaching modality and learning technique in the entrepreneurial world, developing leadership, communication and teamwork.
The course is a valuable learning opportunity to therapists, coaches, family constelators, equine therapists and people who work with horses and want to learn how to help others through the contact with horses.
It can also be a strong and effective way for horse owners to develop their self-awareness.
Some of the skills and abilities participants can expect to develop while interacting with horses in specific activities include; developing communication skills, establishing healthy relationships, problem solving techniques, active listening, empathy, setting limits, gaining self-esteem and confidence, overcoming obstacles and fears, learning to take responsibility for the mistakes and being authentic, among others.
As a large prey animal, the horse has learned to survive well throughout its history, including from men. For this, it developed the extraordinary and innate ability to read its environment and people. In addition, as an honest and non-judgmental collaborator, the horse inspires participants to adopt a responsible and respectful attitude while properly performing the exercises.
When those that work with horses are focused, attentive and in the present, they provide us in return, an immeasurable gain.
